Its a bit on the rush side, I know. We’re targeting the wedding on March 09. Me & lish has talked about it and one thing we have in common is the venue. For both of us, hotels and chinese restaurants are out of the question. All things being considered, the below ‘undisclosed hideout’ has been on our high list. Cosy place, right size (don’t mind my lowly camera that came with my nokia 5800). Can you tell where this place is?
12th Sept 2009. The wedding of Eric & Shiaw is a peaceful and serene wedding. No door games, no fancy challenges for the ‘heng tai’ to endure, even the dinner is a healthy 20+ tables. But nonetheless a sweet one. You can see that they are so happily together, makes you wonder the notion of getting married is just for formality. What is most important is the love that nourishes both, that will keep them ‘alive’ Cheers to the lovely couple… Alex Yang
This lovely couple are going to have their church wedding later this month. But a marriage is only legal in the sense of our Malaysian law after we sign the dotted line in a Registrar of Marriage. Today we had it in Putrajaya, which is one of the many R.O.M. offices in the country. Oh did I mention I had to wake up like 6.30 in the morning (yawn…) in order to be there early… - Alex Yang
With our wedding preparations kicking off to high gear now, we went to Armadale to tryout some gowns. Its ironic I used to take other humans’ pre-wedding all the time but now its my own turn. Now I can really feel the pressure in all the preparations needed to make the shoot a success, which I don’t see when I was the photographer for other people.
Anyway these are some of lisher’s choices of gowns (courtesy by Armadale). Hope you like them as we did :)
It was my first encounter of the many facets the hindu culture yet again. “Sadenge” is the blessing ceremony of a indian girl reaching puberty. It is only after this, an indian girl can wear a indian sari, or so I have noticed. If you look at the photos, you will notice the girl changing to a sari after receiving blessings from all the woman in the house.
A simple & nice wedding held in Ah Yat’s forum restaurant in Avenue K. Here are some photos of this beautiful couple to share…
comments from the couple:
“Morning Alex. Me and my husband like the photo u taken for us, very nice. Thank you very much. Will refer u to my friend in future ”
Very nice indeed. Thanks to the couple for the opportunity and may their journey as husband & wife flourish and go stronger by the day…
Malaysians celebrated Olympics 2008 with its host China that day. Beijing has chosen Kuala Lumpur as one of the destination to have this historical event to celebrate the greatest sport event held every 4 years. The last time KL folks saw this was back in 1964 when Japan played host to Olympics.
The event started from Merdeka Square, KL and ended in KLCC (Malaysia’s landmark) with tens of thousands of local and international supporters mainly of China origins. The Star reported a small incident but overall atmosphere was peaceful and fun where sponsors of different origins like coca-cola, samsung and lenovo took advantage for their own promotions, students of china origins chanting away in support and also locals came to witness this historical event.
Photography opportunity was not good at all due to a few factors namely:
Torch bearers have more than a dozen of FRUs and other staffs surrounding at all times.
Torch relay was done at un-strategic locations where clear view is impossible.
Lack of info of the exact route of the run.
Some if not most bearer only run for a mere 100m or less. What is the point???
many more
I can complaint till the cows come home but it is already done with and only god knows when we will be chosen again to run this event. One suggestion to the organizing committee is that they could have emulate the organizing style of Le Tour De Langkawi. I can imagine how difficult it was for many photo-journalist who has to scuffle with so many parties so that they can deliver that shot!
Colors come in different combinations, as depicted by God’s creation ‘the sky’. Different colors render different emotions. Here are some in my collection of sunrise and sunset shots.

To get good colors, exposure is important. Any over or under-exposure may not give you the desired results. It is good to learn Spot Metering in your camera. The sweet spot should be about 10~15cm away (through the viewfinder) from the brightest spot. Shoot more with different exposures for different results then edit with your software.
Locations of pictures taken are surronding of Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong Kowloon, Hong Kong Airport, Puchong, and FGS Jenjarom.
Dream cars, not just for boys. Apparently the 2 Porsches are owned by 2 successful local Women Entrepreneurs respectively. It was a hot, hot Sunday afternoon and the weather perfectly described the cars and their owners too!

Blue skies dominated the atmosphere and it was easy shooting with a hint of fill-in flash. Locations included Genting Highlands and Putrajaya.
